This selection of stories introduces us to Littlenose, the caveboy with an irrepressible sense of adventure.
We find out how he comes to meet Two-Eyes, his pet mammoth, who been languishing in the market’s ‘reject’ department until Littlenose comes along. In other stories, Littlenose enjoys feasting at the Sun Dance, and learning how to make piercing noises (sorry, music) with a stalk of hemlock.
He also finds time to discover some cave paintings while exploring (and is forced to make a hasty exit when the cave’s inhabitants return). And he finds himself further away from home than anticipated after taking a trip down the river. Finally, in the title story, Littlenose saves the day by rescuing his father from a pit in the ground (just don’t ask why the pit was there in the first place…)
