What is a witch to do when she doesn’t like cats but she does want a pet? Get a dog of course! Now, any sensible witch would get a nice small dog that would fit easily on her broomstick. But not Cackling Carol. She falls in love with the hugest and scruffiest dog at the Dog’s Home and brings him home (in broom transformed into a motorbike and sidecar). All her friends laugh at Big Roddy but soon they’re laughing on the other side of their faces when the wicked Wizard Egbert shows up …
From the author
This is a fun story for children who are beginning to read on their own. All kids are fascinated by witches and Cackling Carol is as nice a witch as you could hope to find. Big Roddy goes down a storm with young readers. I have a toy Big Roddy that I take with me when I do workshops or school visits. He’s always the centre of attention!
I’m sure any child will enjoy this entertaining story of one witch, her broom and her shaggy best friend.
