About the Author
Michael was born in London and worked as a teacher, where he decided he wanted to become a children’s author. He was Children’s Laureate 2003 – 5 and has won numerous awards, including the Whitbread Award, the Smarties Prize and the Children’s Book Award. He has also written Fox Friend and Wartman for Barrington Stoke. He was awarded the OBE for services to Children’s Literature in 2006. He lives in Devon.
