Sharon sits down to a dull Christmas lunch, but one opened cracker later she is dealing with genies, wishes, vicious neighbours and a bizarre place called the Joke Factory. This tale has a twist-and-turn plot that should be suitable for children between the ages of eight and twelve years.

Terry Deary’s first ever book was The Custard Kid, published by A&C Black in 1978. He has since gone on to have over 120 titles published and translated into 28 languages. Terry is best-known for his non-fiction, including the Horrible Histories, but fiction is what he likes doing best and he does it brilliantly in Black Cats which contains several of his stories.
