Book Description
This is the fourth in the popular “Hairy Mole the Pirate” adventures. Hairy Mole and his noble pirate crew have entered a team in the much anticipated, one hundred and first Pirate Olympics. Can the Littleton pirates beat the other three pirate teams to win gold? They’re up against The (not at all wimpy) Daisy Headhunters, captained by Wee Gladys the Mad, The (rough and tough) Pirate Pensioners and The (fearsome) Whiskers Gang, led by Captain Bill Whiskers, who has a laugh that could make a puppy cry. Of course the Pirate Olympic events all need special skills. There’s Walking the Plank, Jumping the Nearly Dead Man’s Chest (Mr Bogey’s special event) and Barrel Rolling. Plus of course the Crow’s Nest Challenge, the Tug o’ War and finally the One Hundred Metre Pirate Bucket Boot race. Will our clever, smelly pirates paarp their way to victory? This is a great independent read for young new readers. The text is laid out with interesting fonts and styles and broken up with nearly 100 beautifully drawn black and white line drawings.
