This publication,Roevehagh, explores the heritage and way of life of a rural community in Clarinbridge in County Galway. From earliest times Roevehagh was a place of importance and chosen to be the inauguration site for the chieftans from the south Galway territory of Hy Fiachrach Aidhne.
Two hundred years ago Roevehagh Church was built and later richly embellished by the local landlord family, the Redingtons of Kilcornan. The bi-centenery of Roevehagh Church has inspired the publication of this book which looks at the many facets of people’s lives today and in times gone by.
Some of these stories will inform you, others will make you laugh, while some will make you nostalgic. The articles are well researched and presented by local people who have taken time to reflect on our community’s journey. Together they help to weave a picture of how we have evolved as a people. This is a treasure to anyone who believes in the importance of the story and the value of community.
